Sixteen-year-old Cassie pushes against the edges of belonging, masking vulnerability with bravado as she drifts into dangerous territory. Her mother Maxine, a fiercely determined filmmaker, stands on the brink of the success she’s chased for years—if she can seize it in time. At the heart of the home is Huia, 80, whose fading memory threatens to unravel the fragile balance she’s spent a lifetime holding together, even as she clings to her dream of witnessing the monarch butterfly migration.

As the past begins to slip away, each woman must confront what it means to hold on—to family, to identity, and to each other.
